From Cars to Vans: Glass Repair for All Vehicles

Having a safe vehicle when out on the roads is vitally important when it comes to minimising accidents.

In fact, someone dies on UK roads every 16 minutes, emphasising just how important it is that your vehicle is in good working order.

This includes having windscreens that are free of damage, including scratches, chips and cracks.

Here at The Windscreen Company, we offer glass repair for all vehicles across the West Midlands and the South East, ensuring drivers are back behind the wheel as quickly and safely as possible.

Read on to find out more about our leading car and van glass repair services.

The importance of quality glass repair for vehicles

If you’re driving with a damaged or broken windscreen, not only can it be extremely dangerous but you could also be breaking the law.

The Highway Code states that the driver must have ‘a full view of the road ahead’ and glass should be ‘maintained in a good condition.’ Therefore, if spotted by the police, a cracked windscreen is likely to see you pulled over and potentially given points on your licence and a fine. If you’re involved in an accident while driving with a cracked windscreen, the punishment could be even more severe.

If you have smaller damage, such as a chip or a scratch, it is still inadvisable to drive. You can continue driving if the damaged windscreen is less than 3mm wide and does not obscure your view of the road, however, doing so runs the risk of the damage getting worse.

Even the smallest scratch can turn into a significant crack if not properly addressed, so it’s essential to get the damage fixed in a timely manner to ensure the risk, and the costs, do not increase.

Comprehensive glass repair services

At The Windscreen Company, we provide our customers with a comprehensive range of windscreen services and will tailor our approach specifically to the type of car you drive and the specific needs of your vehicle.

This includes offering both windscreen repairs and replacements depending on what the most suitable option is for you.

The size, location and type of damage sustained will determine whether a windscreen repair or windscreen replacement is most suitable, and our team of highly trained technicians will be on hand to carry out the work no matter what the solution is.

If a full windscreen replacement is deemed necessary, we can source the glass for your vehicle’s exact make and model, whether it’s a car or a van. Then, we’ll utilise the latest, modern windscreen replacement techniques to provide you with a brand-new windscreen that will keep you and other road users safe.

Most modern vehicles come with some kind of advanced driving assistance system, or ADAS, in place. As part of our windscreen replacement service, we always provide ADAS recalibration services that ensure these systems are operating as they should be and are safe to use.

Expert technicians and state-of-the-art facilities

For over 20 years, our team of expert technicians has provided quality windscreen repairs and replacements to all of our customers.

When you contact us, you’ll be able to choose whether you want the work to be carried out at our state-of-the-art depot or a location of your choosing.

Deb Review for The Windscreen Company

Why not check out what some of our previous customers have to say about our range of services? Below, we’ve selected testimonials from people we’ve worked with and you can take a look at all of our reviews here.

“Highly recommend to all! Absolutely amazing work and business. Unfortunately, I had a smashed windscreen, but with an amazing team it was replaced and I was back on the road the same day to finish my daughter’s birthday celebrations! A 10/10 service and very helpful workers, I couldn’t ask for a better company to help me. Would recommend to anyone looking for a windscreen replacement or repairs.”

“An absolutely amazing service. The technician was very helpful, called me just before the appointment and was a very happy chap. He was very knowledgeable, got on with the job at hand and the work was completed with great care. He even took the time to make sure I had no glass in my vents from the broken screen. An amazing company that I will definitely use again.”

Just had my windscreen replaced and had a great service from the two guys who arrived. They got on with the job with no fuss, were friendly and efficient and I would be happy to recommend your firm to others. You were also quicker than a major competitor, which was relevant to us, because we are going on holiday very soon. So, well done and thanks!”

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

We’re always happy to answer any questions you may have about our services.

Some of the most common questions we come across include:

How long will it take to replace my windscreen?

On average, a windscreen replacement will take around two hours. This can vary depending on the type of vehicle you drive. However, we’re committed to getting you back on the road as soon as possible.

If your situation is an emergency, we provide a same-day service that operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Will my insurance cover the cost of my windscreen?

This completely depends on the type of package you have. For instance, most premium packages are likely to cover the full costs. However, standard packages may not. Always check your individual policy to check if windscreen repair or replacement costs are covered.

At The Windscreen Company, we can liaise with your insurers on your behalf to check if your policy covers the costs. If so, we can then work with them to handle the entire claim so you won’t have to do a thing.

What vehicles do you work on?

We work on all types of vehicles. We can provide windscreen repairs and replacements to cars, vans, trucks, HGVs, agricultural vehicles and more.

As well as this, we offer a dedicated electric and hybrid windscreen repair and replacement service.

What information do I need to provide?

When you get in touch with us, we’ll need to know the make and model of your vehicle as well as your registration number and where you’re based.

At this stage, you can also provide us with your insurance details if you want us to get in touch with them on your behalf.

Safety tips for vehicle owners

While sometimes unavoidable accidents happen that cause damage to your windscreen, you can mitigate the risk by taking certain measures when behind the wheel.

This includes the following:

  • Avoid potholes
  • Drive carefully when on roads that are poorly surfaced
  • Drive a sensible distance from the car in front
  • Don’t use boiling water to de-ice vehicles in cold temperatures
  • Replace windscreen wipers once a year to make sure they’re operating properly and removing dirt and debris effectively
  • Inspect windscreens to catch any small signs of damage quickly before they develop into something more serious
