The New Mini Dashboard Revealed

Leading British automotive manufacturer Mini has decades of experience when it comes to innovation.

As the first-ever car to introduce front-wheel drive and small 10-inch wheels, the brand has shown time and time again that it isn’t afraid to push the boundaries.

And now, ahead of the release of its 2025 Mini Cooper Electric Hatchback, the manufacturer has excelled itself once again with the reveal of its brand-new minimalist dashboard.

Taking inspiration from its 1959 original model, Mini has brought the brand into the 21st century by adding a number of technological advancements and futurist innovations.

In this article, we’ll outline everything you need to know about Mini’s new dashboard, including explaining its many exciting features.

What have Mini done with their new dashboard?

Since Mini’s first car was released in 1959, it’s fair to say the brand’s designs have changed significantly.

For 2025, Mini decided to go for a completely fresh design to what owners and motoring enthusiasts have been accustomed to in recent years, partly as it begins to ramp up its electrification operations.

With this in mind, the manufacturer has decided to opt for a nod to the past when it comes to the new Mini dashboard. Inspired by the very first Mini model, the dashboard is extremely minimalistic and only features three items.

These are: a steering wheel, one round instrument to display speed, engine information and other key data, and a simple toggle bar for air conditioning, heating and more.

Other differences from the 1959 model include two door mirrors, sun visors, a central armrest and a three-spoke steering wheel instead of the traditional two-spoke option.

The aesthetic of the new dashboard is also reminiscent of the retro 1959 design, however, a whole host of modern features have been added to make the vehicle suitable for modern driving conditions.

Mini New Dashboard 2023

Advancements in technology have seen the automotive industry come on leaps and bounds in recent years. Most recently, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, or ADAS, has been introduced to help motorists with a variety of driving functions.

Mini is no stranger to incorporating new tech into their vehicles, and the 2025 Mini Cooper Electric Hatchback has a whole host of key features in this regard.

By reducing its interior design in favour of a more ‘Mini’-like aesthetic, it’s made room for a range of features such as:

  • The Mini interaction unitThe first of its kind in the automotive industry, this digital, OLED, circular display was developed in collaboration with Samsung and allows drivers to customise their experience based on a number of ‘experience modes’.
  • Experience modesThis leads us nicely onto the modes themselves. Every driver of the 2025 model will be able to choose between experience modes such as Core, Go-Kart, Green, Balance, Timeless, Vivid, Personal and Trail (for Countryman versions only). Each mode performs slightly differently and can be tailored to the driving preferences of whoever is behind the wheel. This will also influence what the driver sees on the interaction unit, ensuring everyone has a customised experience.
  • Mini Operating System 9Mini’s operating systems have come a long way since the very first version, and the ninth incarnation has seen a complete overhaul of the system. It’s been redesigned in order to better incorporate voice and touch technology.
  • Mini Personal AssistantAn ingenious AI support system, Spike is Mini’s very own personal assistant. While behind the wheel drivers can glean all kinds of information just by asking it questions with voice commands. This can include assisting with phone calls, navigation and changing the temperature in the vehicle.
  • Cloud navigation systemsThe new hatchback will also have fully integrated cloud navigation systems. This means faster routes can be suggested as well as informing you of the nearest EV charging station.
