Don’t leave the engine on

If you’re briefly nipping out of your car for a few minutes there’s always the temptation to keep the engine running. Maybe you’re just dashing into a shop or dropping something off at a friends. Whatever the case, when it comes to saving fuel it’s always best to switch off the engine whenever the vehicle is stationary.

In fact, it’s predicted that one gallon of fuel per hour is burned when a car is idling. So even for the quickest of stops, it’s best to turn off the engine.
